Produced water treatment is processed for groundwater which gets extracted in extraction procedure of oil and gas. The groundwater that comes out is salty in texture and often has oil residues mixed within it. It is made to undergo the procedure of produced water treatment, so as to make it fit for reusing for applications in industries such as agriculture, energy re-production and commercial industries.
However, due to the overall health concerns of using produced water, only 1% of it is being used all over the world. The growing population rate has brought a huge question of how to feed billion people with limited drinking water supply. The industries of energy production and agriculture are equally using these freshwater supplies, which further results in the contamination of these resources. That is why produced water treatments have picked a pace so as to preserve the freshwater sources particularly and specifically for drinking and consumption only.
